Principal Attorney Biographical Information

Román R. Romero, is a native Northern New Mexican. He was raised in Las Vegas, New Mexico where he graduated from Robertson High School. Mr. Romero earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from New Mexico Highlands University in 1997 and his Juris Doctorate from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2003.

While an undergraduate student at New Mexico Highlands University, Mr. Romero was a four-year letterman for the football team, a member of the Associated Students of New Mexico Highlands University, a Three-time Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Team recipient and was a Dean’s List Scholar.

Upon completing his undergraduate studies, Mr. Romero was an educator and team leader for the Albuquerque Public Schools prior to attending law school.

While attending law school, Mr. Romero, who is bilingual, served as a consultant to Colombian judges and professors on behalf of the United States Department of Justice, and completed an externship at the Supreme Court of the State of Guanajuato in Guanajuato, Mexico. Mr. Romero also served as a law clerk at Law & Resource Planning and Associates, P. C. and prosecuted criminal defendants at the Second Judicial District Attorney’s office.

Mr. Romero has represented clients in the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico, before The New Mexico Court of Appeals, in New Mexico District Courts, Metropolitan Court, Magistrate Courts, Municipal Courts, Children’s Court, and several of New Mexico’s administrative agencies. He has successfully defended criminal defendants charged with misdemeanors, felonies, violations of Federal Drug laws, and represented several clients in civil matters including personal injury cases, contractual claims, civil rights violations and appeals.

Mr. Romero has served as a Board Member for the American Bar Association, and the New Mexico State Bar Association, and is currently a member of The American Bar Association (ABA), the ABA’s Trial Lawyer’s and Criminal Justice Divisions, The Hispanic National Bar Association, the Hispanic National Bar Association, and The New Mexico Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association.

He has taught courses for Licensed New Mexico Bail Bonding Agents on behalf of the State of New Mexico Department of Insurance, New Mexico Highlands University, The New Mexico State Bar Association and The Law Review Continuing Legal Education Program.
